About Doug McMahon

First night we met

First "I love you's"

Doug grew up in Little Canada, MN the youngest of 3 children (Mary-Megan and Den). Being the baby of Dennis Sr. and Beverly (Punkie) he more than not got his way. However, he was always an angel (by the way I am writing this so I can say whatever I want). He attended St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, MN and participated in many sports teams including football, basketball, hockey, tennis and baseball. He then went to Boston College to escape the cold MN winters and realized it was still cold so then went down to Georgetown in Washington D.C. for Medical School and it was still cold so he went to the University of South Florida for his Pediatrics Residency. Despite his best judgment he opted for the best training over the sun and went to Madison, Wisconsin for Fellowship training in Asthma and Allergies. He left Madison with something more valuable than any education, the love of his life. Thanks to his frugality Doug and some friends attended a social networking event in Madison that offered free beer. It was there that he was captivated by Jessica’s warm personality and stunningly good looks (Jessica told me to add that) (Jessica here, Lies, all lies! What was this about being an angel before?). From that day forward they were inseparable and became best friends. Doug loves her energy and humor, but more importantly her kind nature and love and consideration of others especially those closest to her. Based on job offers Doug and Jessica decided it would be best to move to Minnesota. Since Jessica is a Vikings fan (Jessica again...no I’m not GO, PACK GO!) this was going to be an easy move. Every day their relationship gets stronger and they grow more and more in love with each other and can not wait until June 28th, 2014 when they get to make it official that they will be best friends forever and grow old together.

About Jessica Wineke

Moved to Minnesota

Jessica is the daughter of Joe and Debbie Wineke and was born and raised in Verona, WI (a suburb of Madison). Like Doug, Jessica was also the youngest of 3 children (Scott and Brian). Being the youngest and the only girl, Jessica quickly learned how to stand her ground and get noticed. Contrary to popular belief, Jessica was shy until the ripe-old age of three and then you could never get her to shut up (a trait she still carries with her today…lucky you, Doug!). Growing up Jessica developed a love for sports at an early age. In elementary and middle school you could always find her in a dance class, on the soccer field, basketball court, softball diamond or track field. As she got older, she narrowed her focus down to one sport, basketball, where she played on a traveling AAU team and traveled around the U.S. to participate in tournaments such as Nationals, Junior Olympics and the Nike Cup. Basketball remains a favorite hobby of Jessica’s and when it’s warm out, Jessica enjoys beating Doug in basketball (one-on-one, horse, around the world…you name it!). Jessica graduated top of her class from Winona State University majoring in Public Relations. After graduation Jessica moved back to Madison, which turned out to be the best decision of her life. In October of 2011 Jessica met the love of her life at a Wine and Cheese Young Professional Networking Event. As a Marketing and Public Relations professional, Jessica was encouraged to go network for her company, so she decided to go with some fellow co-workers. Doug on the other hand, he was there for some free food and drink and to “pick up chicks” with a few of his buddies (although he “claims” he was there to network as well.) Fortunately for Jessica, Doug’s “networking” paid off and he had her laughing the whole night. From then on every date was better and better. Doug is the type of person that you just want to be around. He’s funny, caring, athletic, sensitive, good-looking (Doug told me to put that) but most of all, he has the biggest heart of anyone I know. Doug is the type of person who would do anything for his friends and family and he’s truly brought out the best qualities in me and has taught me to be a better person. Every day is a new adventure with him and I look forward to creating a lifetime of wonderful memories together! June 28th can not come soon enough.

Celebrating our engagement

The Proposal! Doug had Jessica completely surprised. He was quite the sneaky guy. Here's a video of how Doug proposed! (Note: If you would like to watch the video, turn off the music on the website by hitting the gray pause button on the left-hand side).
